Welcome back, Distinguished Communicators! As we prepare for the year ahead, let's take some time to refine how we articulate who we are and what we do. For this huddle, please bring in your resume, your elevator pitch notes, or notes about a specific networking event/interview you plan to attend soon. We'll review some basic principles about substantive and clear communication, and then break into groups to see how we can apply these principles to our professional communication.

Are you new to the Distinguished Communicator Program? Are you currently in the program, and do you want to make sure you're on the right track? This meeting is for you! At this session we will review program requirements and cross-reference your personal tracking form against our records. Writing for Different Genres and Disciplines

How do we determine the appropriate tone, style and structure for different writing situations? In this workshop you will have the opportunity to learn more about different writing genres and how they play a role in different disciplines. CxC staff will help you develop your own toolkit for researching appropriate tone and style in your own fields, and discuss how you can carry this toolkit with you wherever your professional development takes you.

Your ePortfolio is a website that effectively communicates your work and skills as they relate to your post-graduation goals. It’s an ideal tool to use as you are seeking internships, scholarships, jobs, and/or admission to grad school. A strong ePortfolio immediately sets you apart from other students, which is one reason it is part of your Distinguished Communicator certification. Whether your ePortfolio currently consists of a blank page or you are close to a final draft, this workshop is for you! We’ll review the basics of good portfolios and work with you to do some hands-on building/editing, so join us!
