Welcome, Transfer Tigers!

Overview

We're so glad you are considering the Manship School! Now that you are on your way to becoming a Tiger, let’s talk about the Manship School of Mass Communication's four areas of concentration: public relations, journalism, political communication and digital advertising. We believe in experiential education, so we offer all students opportunities to get involved in nationally-recognized student competition teams, award-winning student media and the opportunity to intern at world-renowned companies. Now is a great time to become a mass communication major: the Bureau of Labor Statistics is forecasting strategic communications positions to grow faster than the overall economy over the next eight years!

How to Apply

If you are a student who started your college career at another institution, we want you to finish strong at the Manship School!

Transfer students must meet university transfer admission requirements. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 12 hours of course work on the LSU campus with at least a 3.00 LSU GPA and a 3.00 cumulative GPA to be eligible for admission to the Manship School. All other LSU admission guidelines and procedures also apply to transfer students.

The Manship School has academic requirements and an admissions process. Students with above a 3.0 grade point average are given priority admission if they meet all the requirements, but mass communication experience and leadership are also weighed in this holistic process.

The application gives further instructions on how to apply. Application requirements include:

  • 3.0 LSU and cumulative GPA
  • B or better in MC 2010 Media Writing
  • Essay
  • Resume

(MC 2010 Media Writing is a gateway class in to the school. Please note that we offer this course during most summer semesters to help transfer students get ahead.)

Take the first step and become an LSU Tiger. Visit LSU’s transfer student admissions page to find out more (LSU requirements, steps to enroll, dates and deadlines, application status).

Scholarships

Transfer students are eligible for continuing student scholarships. Once you are admitted in to the school, you will be automatically eligible for these scholarships.
