About the GRC

Purpose

The purpose of this conference is to nurture a culture of research and provide a forum for graduate students to:

  • exchange research ideas

  • foster cross disciplinary discussions and collaborations

  • enhance research quality and productivity

  • showcase research accomplishments

  • celebrate and honor outstanding graduate students

Eligibility

The conference invites all graduate students at LSU to submit abstracts. It is also open to the following Louisiana institutions, including Louisiana Tech University, Southern University, Tulane University, and University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Due to space and budget constraints, for the four other institutions, only graduate students (master's and PhD) who are associated with the "NSF RII Track 1: Louisiana Materials Design Alliance (LAMDA)" project are invited to submit abstracts for an oral or poster presentation. Learn more about LAMDA projects.

We are looking for faculty and qualified postdoctoral students to serve as Judges for the GRC.

Participating students can present their research in oral or poster format. Students will be classified in STEM v. NONSTEM groups for judging purposes. There will be two sessions during the conference: Morning and Afternoon. During each session, poster sessions and oral presentations will be happening simultaneously.

Judges can serve based on availability; however, we welcome volunteers that can serve for both morning and afternoon sessions. Please select one format you want to judge per session (e.g., Judge 1 serves as a poster judge during the morning session, Judge 2 serves as an oral judge in the afternoon session).

If you are interested in participating as a judge, please complete the Judges Interest Form in the purple section below.

The Chair of the Judges committee will host one optional info session in March and one optional session in April for those that complete the interest form. Info sessions will be held to answer any general questions you may have as you are preparing to judge. More information on the info sessions will be sent out in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your interest in participating as a judge in the 2024 Graduate Research Conference! With your help, our students can present their work to a genuine audience and articulate their findings to the graduate community.

If you have any questions, please contact Jaylee Russell, Chair of Judges Committee at [email protected].
