Lactation Space Locations on Campus

The lactation space initiative provides breastfeeding support for nursing parents on campus. Our goal is to provide accessible and equitable spaces for parents on campus, whether you are a faculty or staff member, student, or campus guest.

Lactation spaces are used on a first-come, first served basis. After you have used a lactation space, please check-in by clicking the button below. You will also have the chance to provide any feedback about the space, so we can make improvements for future use and to notify if supplies are low or have run out. All check-ins and feedback are anonymous. For any other comments or concerns, email [email protected]

Breastfeeding Support

At LSU, we recognize the health benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby and support a mother’s decision to nurse her child. We are committed to providing mothers the accommodations and support needed if she chooses to breastfeed upon returning to work. Clean and private lactation spaces are provided around campus and breastfeeding resources can be found in the lactation spaces in addition to the below links.

Break Time for Lactation

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), employers are required to provide reasonable break time for an employee to express breastmilk for her nursing child for one year after the child’s birth each time such employee has need to express the milk.

Be sure to communicate with your supervisor once returning to work on your needed break times, as some departments have special scheduling needs to meet throughout the standard workday (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.). View PS-79 on Flexible Work Hours and Staffing.
