How To Join Detachment 310
**Please use the website College Student Scholarship Types | Scholarships | U.S. Air Force ROTC (afrotc.com) to apply for the HSSP (High School Scholarship Program)**
Cadets are not required to be on scholarship to join AFROTC. In fact, scholarships are very competitive to earn as an incoming freshman. The HSSP (High School Scholarship Program) application process needs to be started in the fall approximately 11 months before joining the program in the following fall semester.
However, in the final two years of the program, all cadets are automatically offered full tuition scholarships up to $18,000 per year.
If you have any questions, contact [email protected] or call 225-578-4532.
Step 1: Enroll in University
Enroll full time (12 hours minimum) at Louisiana State University or at one of Detachment 310's crosstown universities (BRCC, Southern, Southeastern).
Students seeking a second undergraduate degree or graduate degree are eligible to join AFROTC, but are not eligible for scholarships.
Step 2: Register for AFROTC Class and Leadership Lab
**You must have a minimum of 6 college semesters remaining to join in the fall and 7 semesters remaining to join in the spring**
(If you do not meet the above requirements, consider extending your undergraduate degree to fit the AFROTC timeline. Or, if you are within 1 year of graduating, apply to OTS.)
Fall Semester:
- Freshman students enroll in ASST 1001 (class) and ASST 1011 (lab).
- Sophomore students dual enroll in ASST 1001 (class), ASST 2001 (class), and ASST 2011 (lab).
Spring Semester:
- Freshman students enroll in ASST 1002 (class) and ASST 1012 (lab).
Step 3: Detachment 310 Application (HSSP Applicants Only)
