ExxonMobil Awards More Than $50,000 to LSU's College of Engineering

On September 24, ExxonMobil Foundation presented $50,500 in departmental grants to the LSU College of Engineering.

“Our commitment to LSU is evident in the resources we invest in mentoring, recruiting and hiring excellent College of Engineering students,” said Charles Dabadie, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Plastics Plant manager, 1987 graduate of LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. “We are proud of the strong partnership we have with LSU, and we are continuously working to better support and engage the students and faculty members.”

ExxonMobil’s gift to the College of Engineering will support areas for research and student advancement within the following academic disciplines:

  • $13,500 for the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering
  • $3,500 to support the Civil Engineering program
  • $4,500 awarded to the Division of Computer Science and Engineering
  • $7,000 granted to the Electrical Engineering program
  • $2,000 to enhance engineering technology within the College of Engineering
  • $10,000 presented to the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering
  • $10,000 awarded to the Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering

“ExxonMobil has been a steadfast supporter of the LSU Engineer, from providing instructional support to supporting our ExxonMobil Diversity Scholars program,” said Rick Koubek, dean, LSU's College of Engineering. “It's no wonder ExxonMobil continues to rank highly as the ideal place to work amongst our engineering students.”

The total gift presented by ExxonMobil to the LSU Foundation totaled $68,000 to support LSU’s College of Engineering, E.J. Ourso College of Business; the College of Science; and Career Services.
