What We Do
Championing Accessibility and Success
At LSU, our commitment is to ensure that every student has the access and support they need to thrive, both in and out of the classroom. Regardless of your academic major or interests, Disability Services is here to make your LSU journey exceptional.
We achieve our mission through:
-
Personalized Support: We conduct individualized intake and assessments to understand your unique needs. Our team facilitates auxiliary aids and services, ensuring equal access to all university activities, programs, and services. We dedicate ourselves to helping you achieve your educational goals.
-
Empowering Advocacy and Awareness: We commit to promoting self-advocacy and increasing disability awareness. We coordinate programs and participate in campus initiatives to foster an inclusive environment. We collaborate with LSU administration to develop and revise policies that support students with disabilities.
-
Excellence in Programs and Services: We design and offer high-quality programs to support you both in and out of the classroom. We aim to become a nationally recognized model for disability services by empowering students to manage their needs independently and educating the entire LSU community about disability sensitivity and inclusion.
Our Work In Action
the benefit of a liaison
Tommie, Kinesiology Major"...being deaf and blind makes my educational journey very challenging. Without the support, guidance, and accommodations I receive from DS, this pursuit would be impossible. I am extremely grateful and humbled by how much Disability Services does to ensure I have this opportunity. Although I have been very fortunate to have extraordinary professors who have worked with me, having the benefit of a liaison and the ability to test in a distraction-free environment are attributes to my academic success."
