Congratulations, ECP Spring 2021 Graduates!
4/23/2021.
BATON ROUGE – The Center for Community Engagement, Learning, and Leadership (CCELL), in conjunction with LSU Campus Life, are pleased to announce its largest cohort of 20 seniors that will graduate with the Engaged Citizen distinction in May 2021.
Collectively, these students have earned 177 service-learning credit hours and have volunteered approximately 1700 hours across their local and global communities during their academic tenure at LSU. Some of this cohort’s volunteer opportunities include service events such as Campus Life's Geaux Big and Community Bound. Their individual community engagement includes working with Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts of America, Live 2 Serve, and East Baton Rouge public schools throughout their academic tenure. Some students also served abroad on international mission trips to Guatemala, Chile, Haiti and Ghana.
“Standing back and looking at what this cohort of ECP graduates has done in an academic year like 2020-21 leaves us awestruck,” said CCELL Director, Dr. Sarah Becker. “The world ahead of us looks brighter as they carry themselves into their post-LSU lives.”
CCELL and LSU Campus Life established the Engaged Citizen Program to support and recognize the accomplishments of undergraduate students who engage significantly with their communities to address critical community needs. Any undergraduate student can apply to be a part of the program.
“The service these students offered others through challenging times is an incredible testament to their readiness for serving as engaged LSU alumni”, said Associate Dean of Students and Director of LSU Campus Life Jacob Brumfield. "We are proud of them and thankful they chose to lead and serve as LSU students!’
