Workday Student: Workstreams
March 27, 2024
The student information system modernization project recently celebrated its second anniversary and is on track for the first release of functionality this coming August. There are over 200 people across LSU A&M, LSUA, LSUE and LSUS working hard to implement Workday Student for the LSU community.
This project falls under the leadership of Executive Vice President & Provost Roy Haggerty and Executive Vice President for Finance & Administration and Chief Administrative Officer Kimberly Lewis as executive sponsors. Project governance includes several multi-institutional bodies: the Workday Student Executive Steering Committee, chaired by EVP Lewis; the Academic Policy Committee, chaired by LSU A&M Vice Provost for Academic Programs & Support Services Jacqueline Bach; and the Process Governance Committee, chaired by LSU A&M Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services & Chief Information Officer Craig Woolley. University Registrar Clay Benton serves as the project functional director, Executive Director & Deputy CIO Robin Ethridge serves as the project deployment director, and Crystal Murphy serves as Program Manager. Together, Benton, Ethridge, and Murphy provide operational project leadership, facilitate multi-institutional and core/cross-functional review of topics, and escalate issues to executive sponsors and governance committees as needed. Under their leadership, the project is organized into workstreams that execute the work of designing and configuring the system and translating LSU processes into the new Workday Student. Workstreams include:
- Academic Foundation and Student Records
- Core and Cross-functional
- Curriculum and Advising
- Data Conversion
- Financial Aid
- Integrations
- Organizational Change Management
- Platform (HR/Finance/Payroll) Touchpoints
- Recruiting and Admissions
- Reporting
- Security
- Student Financials
There is a diverse representation of LSU employees from all institutions throughout the workstreams. See a list of workstream leads, as well as committee members, here. There are change liaisons in each workstream that assist with efforts to capture changes and end user impacts within the workstream design sessions to ensure that decisions are tracked and implications recorded. This will inform the development of training materials and allow for a smoother transition to Workday Student.
