Mid-September - Deadline
VMCAS Application Closes. Check with VMCAS directly for specific date as it may be
the first business day after Sept. 15th if it falls on a weekend. All required items,
such as transcripts, Letters/Evaluations should be submitted by this date to ensure
VMCAS verification. LSU SVM guarantees review applicants fully verified by VMCAS only.
VMCAS Application Information
October 1 - Deadline
LSU Vet Med $100 Processing Fee due. Pay online using a credit or debit card using
our payment portal. Do not mail payments.

October-November
Application processing and review. No updates or decisions will released during this
time.
Late December
Applicant decisions will be released. Decisions include offers, denials, alternate
statuses, and invitations to interview if interviews are held. The LSU Vet Med Admissions
Committee reserves the right to hold or not hold interviews each year. Applicants
will be notified at this time if an interview will be required.
Late January/Early February - Deadline
If held, interviews will be conducted between late January and early February. Candidates
will be notified in late December if an interview will be required and if they will
be virtual or in-person. Interviews were not held for the 2024 cycle.
February 1 - Deadline
Final fall transcripts must be submitted by all offered candidates directly to LSU
Vet Med.
Do not send transcripts to LSU GRAD School or LSU A&M Main Campus if these are presented
as options.

Late February
If interviews were held, interviewed applicants will be notified of offer, denial,
or alternate statuses.
April 15th - Deadline
All candidates who have received an offer must respond by the National Decision Deadline,
which is April 15th or the first business day after if it falls on a weekend. Candidates'
offers will be rescinded if the Office of Admissions has not received a response by
this deadline. Alternate offers will be released at the end of the business day, if
positions are available.

Accepted candidates will matriculate into the DVM program 11 months after the cycle's
application deadline. Matriculating students are required to attend a mandatory orientation
the week prior to the first day of class. Failure to attend orientation may result
in rescindment of the candidate's position in the class.
Although rare, alternate offers may be made through the first week of the fall semester.
