Biography
As a first-generation college graduate, Andy Trevathan’s path to higher education was not a smooth road. She helps others negotiate their own path to education and currently teaches First Year Writing, Poetry, and other courses at LSU. Dr. Trevathan is originally from Texas where she attended Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She completed her B.A. in English with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies in 2006 where she graduated Cum Laude. In 2008, Trevathan graduated with her Masters in English from the University of Tulsa, where she also received additional graduate certificates in Women & Gender Studies, Afro-African American Studies, and Film Theory/Film Studies. Ms. Trevathan attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville for her doctoral degree, which she received in 2015. Her dissertation is titled, "At Home In Exile: Ezra Pound and the Poetics of Banishment." She worked for 5+ years at the University of Arkansas Athletic Dept. as both a senior tutor and learning specialist and has over ten years teaching experience at both the college and high school level.
