Research Interests:

Dr. Kofi Christie’s research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to improve sustainability at the water-energy nexus. His work spans areas such as wastewater treatment and reuse, desalination, resource recovery, remediation and pollution control, and carbon capture and utilization. His research interests include:

  • Elucidating the complex thermodynamic stabilities of highly saline wastewater solutions
  • Designing and fabricating novel membrane materials and processes for resource recovery
  • Process optimization for membrane-based liquid separations
  • Thermo-responsive soft materials for water treatment
  • Valorization of waste materials for long-term CO2 storage
