Biography
Bridget Perry is an adjunct professor in the School of Social Work in Human Development and Family Science. She has been a Certified Child Life Specialist for over 25 years. She currently works at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans as the Clinical Lead Child Life Specialist, Practicum Supervisor, Values Coach for employees, PICU/NICU Child Life Specialist, Shared Governance Patient Experience Chair/Facilitator, Quality Improvement team member, NICU Parent Advisory Board chair, Child Life Education Chair and Palliative Care Champion.
She received a bachelor’s degree in human development with a Child Life concentration from the University of Alabama. She completed her Child Life internship at Tulane Hospital for Children. She received her master’s degree in healthcare administration and leadership from Capella University in 2020.
Bridget works closely with bereavement coordinators in hospice, providing bereavement/grief education and support for children and families. Her areas of interest are bereavement and trauma support. Bridget provides education and presentations for healthcare staff including MDs, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, Medical Students, and other healthcare staff including these topics: Navigating Serious illness, interdisciplinary work, Child Life education, supporting families and siblings, trauma support, bereavement support, and grief. She completed an evidence-based project on the Importance of Developmentally Appropriate Stimulation in the NICU.
Bridget has presented several times at the Louisiana Mississippi Hospice Palliative Care Conference (LMPHCO) and has written two articles for LMPHCO about Sibling support and children’s grief. Bridget has been teaching Child Life courses at LSU since 2022. Teaching is one of her passions and she looks forward to continuing this passion as an adjunct professor at LSU.
