Video: LPB Feature on Military Museum Highlights LSU’s Legacy of Service and Sacrifice
November 11, 2024
Kim Carroll never met her father, LSU graduate and U.S. Air Force captain Virgil Grant Stewart, who was shot down in Vietnam in 1969, just days after she was born, and remains missing in action.
But his legacy of sacrifice and service lives on at the William A. Brookshire LSU Military Museum, located in Memorial Tower on the LSU campus, in an exhibit featuring Stewart's letters home and other military artifacts.
As part of its Veterans Day programming, Louisiana Public Broadcasting featured important military figures from LSU, the university’s legacy of service, and some of the museum's new exhibits.
Carroll said it was important to share her father’s story and is grateful to the museum for making that possible.
“I think the legacy would live on more here than in a box,” she said.
The museum is always looking for stories and donations of artifacts. For information or to make a donation, contact the museum director, James Gregory, at [email protected].
