Concentrations
The LSU Department of Textiles, Apparel Design & Merchandising offers a Bachelor of Science in textiles, apparel and merchandising with three areas of concentration. Within these concentrations, students will have an experience tailored to equip them with a competitive edge that is needed in the constantly changing fashion industry.
Apparel Design
Students will have the opportunity to refine their skills and gain expertise in developing new apparel for the production process while using high-tech equipment.
Merchandising
Students will be given an in-depth look into the world of retail and merchandising and how those interact with the clothing industry. Students will also gain expertise in business strategy, consumer behavior, and management.
Textile Science
Students who are interested in science and mathematics will find the perfect cross-over point in this concentration. They will learn to design develop and manufacture different types of fibers and fiber products that are currently used in the textile industry.
